Recycling Grills and Stoves

recycling old grills Steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, plastic, wood, and electronics are just a few of the materials that can be used to build grills and stoves. To recycle a stove or grill, you must first clean it and get as much grease off of it as you can.

How to Recycle Grills and Stoves

Putting your metals into different categories will help you to get paid more for your scrap grills and stoves. In light of that:

  • Use a magnet to determine if a metal is ferrous or non-ferrous (the magnet will be drawn to the ferrous metal). When you take your gas grill to be recycled to a scrap yard, non-ferrous metal earns a higher price.
  • Next, look to see if the plastic parts (handles, sides, shelves, etc.) show the recycling label with the numbers (1, 2, 5, etc.) that your town or locality collects. If so, take the plastic components apart and recycle them as usual.
  • Gas valves can be removed and given to us for recycling. They are often made of brass or aluminum.
  • Batteries and any electronics (ignition wires, electric controllers, etc.) should be taken out. Along with the metal components, we will process the electronics.
  • Grill propane tanks cannot be recycled or disposed of with a scrap metal processor; instead, they must be sent to a propane gas dealer. The line that connects the tank to the burners is also non-recyclable and needs to be thrown away.
